Overview

This Game Design pathway equips students with the skills and knowledge to create immersive and engaging digital experiences, and prepare them for a career in game design and development. The course introduces students to the fundamentals of games, keeping design, technology and culture in the purview. Through student driven interdisciplinary workshops and industry-focused projects, one learns the tools, language and vocabulary of the industry. Students can work towards becoming game designers, game programmers, web game developers, mobile game developers, PC game developers, assistant producers, producers, product managers, QA testers, web developers, web backend developers.

Exit Criteria

YEAR 1

At the end of year 1 students will:

  • Have a strong foundation on the basic concepts that go into making games
  • Understand what game design is and the elements that make a game
  • Understand and work with analog and digital prototypes to use the basics of mathematics and physics for games
  • Familiarize into using scripting and complicated middleware to design and create games

YEAR 2

At the end of year 2 students will:

  • Build technical expertise with tools and technologies that drive cross platform design and development of games
  • Will be introduced to the business side of games and also explore their cultural, social and economic significance
  • Gain advanced game design and development techniques

YEAR 3

At the end of year 3 students will:

  • Be able to formulate and execute game design development project
  • Learn to apply investigative thinking and develop project managerial skills
