PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMS - PDP

Srishti’s 2 ½ year Professional Diploma Program follows the 2 year foundation program at Srishti or an equivalent course elsewhere. The program is committed to training students in the various fields of Art and Design and is facilitated by the best practitioners and specialists in these fields.

Students have the option to major in any discipline they choose and also have the opportunity to explore cross-disciplinary options. During the course of the two and a half years, students will also work on various real world projects in, “Design for Business”, “Design for Humanity” and “Design as Experimentation”. This program is focused on seeing design as a trigger for innovation to not just spur business opportunities but also to address issues that concern humanity. Students who have successfully completed the Professional Diploma Program are eligible to continue further studies in our unique and unconventional Advanced Diploma Program.

Courses are offered by the Department of General Studies, Department of Visual Communication Design, Department of Digital Video Production, Department of Animation & Visual Effects, Department of Furniture & Interior Design, Department of Textile Design and the Department of Product & Interface Design. Students are required to do an internship during their course here.

PDP in User Centered Design and Innovation (PDP: UCD&I)

Realizing that innovation is the engine for the growth of prosperity and national competitiveness in the 21st century, the President of India has declared 2010 as the 'Decade of Innovation'. Innovation can mean new and unique applications of old technologies, using design to develop new products and services, new processes and structures to improve performance in diverse areas, organizational creativity, and public sector initiatives to enhance delivery of services. Innovation is being seen as a means of creating sustainable and cost effective solutions for people at the bottom of the pyramid, and is being viewed as an important strategy for inclusive growth in developing economies. This new direction will create multiple jobs in the industry in various sectors such as but not limited to education, business, government, NGOs, urban and rural development.

(Monthly Stipend for all selected and tuition scholarships for few exceptional students)

For select qualifying students who have completed ONE year of PDP at Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, we will offer a PDP in UCD&I from July 2012. This specialization requires you to practice your skill sets in design thinking, user research, ideation and conceptualization on live innovation and UX projects. As part of your PDP 4th year, you will be mentored in methods relevant to UCD&I. You will also be required to take some courses offered in the school that augment your skills.

If selected, you will be paid a stipend of INR 10,000 as a monthly stipend to participate in this track of specialization. For select few, we will be offering tuition scholarships.

The criteria for admissions for a direct entry graduate student is as under:

• Graduates from other Art & Design schools
• Graduates in any discipline with an interest in Art & Design

The criteria for admissions for Course transfer students is as under:

• Students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies in any field and wish to change their line of profession to Art & Design may apply.
• Students who have completed a 2-year Foundation studies program at another institution.

Admissions will be considered on the basis of a credit transfer equivalent to the Srishti Foundation Studies Program.

SELECTION PROCESS
We accept students into our program based on an interview and portfolio review. The interview process will assess the candidate's aptitude for art and design. The portfolio should include original creative works and/or evidence of work experience in a related field. The direct entry students into PDP will be called in for a portfolio review and interview and the dates will be informed to you once the forms are submitted.
